The Loveland Roar

Every summer, the second- through eighth-graders of Loveland come together for two weeks of running, jumping, and throwing. Usually, the first week after school’s out, track camp consists of stations that introduce kids to each event at a normal track meet, culminating in a mock meet that lets each kid try every event. Cross-country camp is normally a week or two after, similarly consisting of stations, but each serves only to encourage everyone to run. At the end of the week

Winter track, technically a club, has been an underground pillar of Loveland’s running programs. For those who don’t know, winter track is a sport run indoors, with all of the same events and structure as outdoor track in the spring. The track is only about 200 meters, but the competition is still fierce. This year alone has been historic, with multiple records broken and a plethora of state-qualifying individuals. The college basketball season has begun, and with it came an in-state rivalry game between the Kentucky Wildcats and the Louisville Cardinals. The star of the second round of the College Playoffs was the Allstate Sugar Bowl featuring the Ole Miss Rebels and the Georgia Bulldogs. Entering the game, Ole Miss was coming off a first-round win against Tulane. Georgia was the SEC champion and the three-seed in the playoffs.
