Which fall sport is the best to watch?

Every season, many students participate in sports, but even more students attend these sporting events to watch their classmates battle for a chance to win games in the ECC and beyond. This fall, students participate in and watch various sports, including football, soccer, tennis, golf, cross-country, and volleyball. Each of these sports has different rules, players, jerseys, and overall atmospheres, raising the question: which of these fall sports is the best to watch? To get insight into this controversial topic, I asked different students at Loveland High School to share their opinions.

To get the best gauge of different opinions, I asked people in different grades this question, starting off with the freshmen. When asked which fall sport was his favorite to watch, Evan Knight (9) explained that football was his favorite sport to watch because “they’re fun on Friday to watch and the themes are lots of fun.”

After the freshmen, I asked sophomore Annie Gehler (10) for her opinion on the matter. Gehler, being an avid critic of high school sporting events, was initially unable to provide a clear answer. However, after careful consideration, she stated, “I like watching soccer because I play soccer, so I actually understand what is going on in the game.” This glimpse into her view on fall sports provides a great explanation for the perks of watching a sport you play, and is great advice for anyone looking to watch a new sport this fall.

Going to the upperclassmen’s opinions now, Izzi Vandercook (11) described that she likes watching tennis because “I think I can play just as well as them.” This differing opinion gives a great glimpse into why people like different fall sports and how other people can enjoy watching different sports too.

Next up, I asked Spirit Club leader Brody Miller (12) what his favorite fall sport to watch is. He said football was his favorite to watch because “a bunch of people are there and it’s just a fun environment to be in.” While this can be true for all sports, Miller’s point is especially valid for football games due to the sheer number of people who attend them and the overall competitiveness between schools during football games.

All fall sports are fun to watch for different people, so find out which sport is your favorite by attending games and cheering your Loveland teams on to victory!
