The 2025 anime season is beginning to wrap up, with many shows concluding their seasons or coming close to it. This finalizing anime season has produced some amazing additions to many well-received anime, such as a second season for popular shows like Kaiju No. 8 and DanDaDan. Not to mention that the producers of Demon Slayer, Ufotable, have just released a film reeling in well over $600 million worldwide with just the first part of a three-film trilogy.
But speaking of films released recently, Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc has just been released in theaters around the United States! In Japan alone, this movie has grossed over 4 billion yen, or roughly $26.5 million in US dollars. It would be no surprise if this Chainsaw Man film followed in Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle’s footsteps. It was produced by one of the largest anime production companies in the world, Studio MAPPA. This is the same company that has worked on award-winning shows like Jujutsu Kaisen and Vinland Saga. Although MAPPA has had some issues in the past regarding fair treatment and worker care. Even with that in mind, it shouldn’t take away from the quality of this film.
Studio MAPPA hasn’t only been working on this one film, however. The production studio has been working on not only one, but two different anime set to begin releasing this upcoming January! One of them is the formerly mentioned Jujutsu Kaisen, known by many across the world as JJK. This series has won multiple awards, including “Anime of the Year” and “Best Action” at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards Ceremony, along with nine other awards at the same time. This January, Jujutsu Kaisen is getting a long-awaited third season, which has been officially confirmed by Studio MAPPA.
The other anime set to begin releasing in January by the same studio is yet another award-winner by the name of Hell’s Paradise. But rather than winning an award for the anime itself, the win was for the opening theme of the first season, “Work,” by Ringo Sheena and Millennium Parade. But that doesn’t mean the anime isn’t phenomenal in its own right. With the original season having started releasing during April of 2023, this upcoming season is bound to be promising, given the long wait since the airing of the last one, after over two (almost three) years of production.
Not every upcoming release is from Studio MAPPA, though. Many of them are coming from other companies. Madhouse, Inc., for example, is planning to begin releasing episodes for season two of the award-winning, 2025 Anime of the Year nominee, Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. A show critically acclaimed for its amazing animation and world-building within the plot. David Productions, a company known for its work on many popular anime such as JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure and Cells at Work, is also releasing a continuation of an anime known as Fire Force. But with all of that said, just when one anime season reaches its closing chapters, another one rears its head as we approach 2026. So, whether you’re a fan of action and adventure, mystery and horror, or whatever else might pique your interest, get ready because this next year is looking to be jam-packed with everything imaginable!
