Dormant Coffee Club Brews a Comeback

Recently, tensions have risen at Loveland High School due to one of the most popular clubs, Coffee Club, not hosting a club meeting since October 31st, 2025 as of December 8th, 2025. Coffee Club was founded by co-leaders Izzy Clay (12) and Sia Kadakia (12) during the 2024-2025 school year and has accumulated over 220 members in the club’s GroupMe, as well as over 280 Instagram followers since. The club typically meets and enjoys coffee before school every Friday at local coffee shops including Mile 42, the Loveland-Madeira Starbucks, Hometown Cafe, and more; however, with a lack of communication in the GroupMe on when and where the clubs are being hosted, many Coffee Club attendees have been confused and disappointed as to why this enjoyable club has come to a seemingly abrupt end.

With a lack of communication and a barren GroupMe, on December 4th, Zachary Chevalier (12) and Harrison Little (12), both regular attendees, took a stride toward getting the club back on its feet and communicated that the club would be (informally) meeting at Mile 42 the following Friday. Surprisingly, many Coffee Club members showed up to this informal meeting. As a substantial line formed outside of the shop, I decided to ask Chevalier what inspired his bold movement toward getting the club back and running. He explained, “Coffee Club was my favorite way to start the morning, and now it’s being taken away.” This statement, along with Kyra Chevalier’s (10) addition that she has “nothing to look forward to during the week anymore,” emphasizes the underlying sense of loss and disruption that the members feel as their once-trusted routine suddenly came to a halt.

However, new information given by Kadakia indicates that this club is soon to be back on its feet. Kadakia explained that “we are going to start club back up again this week or next week to get everyone excited for the holidays and ready for midterm week.” This insight excites lots of regular attendees and coffee connoisseurs, such as Sophia Aliaga (11), who upon hearing this news excitedly detailed that she was “so excited to finally have the club back and looking forward to starting (her) Friday morning off on the right note with other people from (her) school who (she does not) usually talk to,” which truly exemplifies the reasoning behind some members’ love for this club.

Although Loveland’s Coffee Club experienced a brief period of inactivity and confusion for its members, with this news on the reestablishment of regular clubs, hope is restored for students who love to have something to look forward to on Fridays, love interacting with people they typically do not get the chance to, and for students who like to have a kick of caffeine to start off their morning.
